2018-07-28 0550 hours ready to go jam for a one day cell in Maine. We will set up and work on PX (The Annuls of an Exploding Pizza with Cranky Corners) and further discuss the universe. 2018-07-29 0730 hours We set up PX in the Maine studio. It was easier in Greenwich due to the higher ceilings. We worked on it some. Kelly was watching it more since it was a new arrival in her space after three weeks away since its creation. one quick added note on PX blueprint done at cell 41; Kelly auto-drew in red and me in black. We never paint over our original blueprint. Kelly worked on the new Hugo painting we also started at cell 41. It is a little story about the two of us hangin' at the pub with Hugo and his dog, dreaming up our next collab. We watched the first episode of twin peaks together( a throw back to art school days), and ate Truffle Tremor with fresh garden tomatoes. Truffle Tremor is a staple at every artcell
Early to bed... just before midnight. we were both up before 0600, mostly due to annoying dogs barking since they smelled something outside (they are hunting dogs owned by Kelly's housemate). We walked down the road by her favorite apple tree. so quiet down the road into the trees. beautiful weather.

Cell 41 greenwich studio 2018-06-29-31 (one full saturday) pre notes; thursday 28th 0650 hours we will focus on just painting, making task lists of associated things to do for after cell. It has been four months since last cell, fat too long i feel. Also the next cell is likely a further seven weeks out, so this makes painting at cell41 that much more needed. We will start by sorting all current works, then begin blue print and auto draw upon the exploding pizza. this is twelve feet wide and eight feet high. Kelly did a sketch of a new piece for us to be drinking in a bar together while contemplating both art and the universe. I got a small crate on marthas vineyard for us to use as a singular portrait of the two of us as morgen berrien. 2018-07-01 sunday ; day three in greenwich studio for the 2 night cell 41. It has been an amazing cell. On friday night kelly arrived after a horrible drive with too much traffic. We talked for hours and sorted our finished and unfinished work. This first night ended at 0200 saturday morning. We started on the exploding pizza around 0900 saturday morning. It is so big that it allowed us to both autodraw various sections at same time. Sunday morning; 2018-07-01 1035 hours. We just returned from Todds Point beach. Kelly and I walked out in the water. Low tide is so beautiful with tiny little sand bars, Kelly went swimming. She is at peace in the salt water. Yesterday on PX (short for exploding pizza) we auto drew the entire blueprint consisting of our cranky corners (where we go whenone or both of us needs a time out). Instead of a visual pizza we have eachother painting, examining the inner and outer world. There are jellyfish, regular fish, anemone and clown fish, and moth of luna, written logs of art cell (hence the annals in title (actual working title is the annals of an exploding pizza with cranky corners). Kelly began (and took home with her) the new painitngs for wendy and india. The wendy one is her new copy of the two flowers from the peoples bank solo show we did. The india one is a requested abstraction. Kelly has a far greater grasp of abstract/expressionism than me. The px is so full of organics, planes on land and in the sea. We want to exhibit both the physical and non physical attributes of the world and beyond our world. 2018-07-04 0915hours Still wanting to write more about cell41.....
both of us work px in our minds(and me upon it for now). I hope to bring it to her in 3 weeks. There is a chance I can visit her studio then, just a few weeks prior to boston cell 42 in mid august. Kelly is working the abstraction on indias painting while considering px. The pollen haze painting resembles greatly the px. The px looks like us, or what we intend to express about the beauty in the world (sea life, clouds, fields). The humor and reality is in the cranky corners where in reality we go to sustain a healthy work environment. - CBS Cell 39 Maine one day 2018-01-27
We are embarked upon a path of many multi tiered narratives. Kelly and I are working hard and fast on an entirely new series of narrations. We are applying visual of moon jelly fish, and flowering plants with pollen filled skies. It is johns birthday number 61 so I got Hendrix gin for him and orange stoly for Kelly. I got some steaks too. Delicious. No we are painting. Our other paintings are still hanging at Peoples Bank and M&T Bank in Greenwich. 2220 hours We have started numerous new pieces about jellyfish, pollen and anemones. We also started an abstract joint piece call 39. Vanilla cupcake we fixed so that the woman looks content, smoking a joint. Sunday morning 0800 hours. We jammed on new pieces till 0200hours. I still polarize colors with intent to define composition and Kelly blends colors to do likewise. We find this a perfect symbiosis. We study stigma and stamens of flowers, and jellyfish life cycles. We plan to add time and space travel and some universal mathematics to our collective narrations. We started an autodraw for an abstract expressive piece. We shall see where it takes us, or just put a narrative over it. We are moving the idea of our pizza beyond the template of pizza. I want to see what the pizza looks like when seen just beyond the reaches of our known world. Our next cell will be number forty, and in Boston. It will be a celebration of the fortieth cell. Our intention now with the pizza is to become one artist, one space occupied in this world with full viewing of other worlds. We now sign our collaborative work "Morgen Berrien". Cell #40 Boston 2018-03-03 We travelled light in order to have a fun and light hearted art cell. We got to our room at 4pm. Econolodge was full due to storm power outages. We reviewed current works and narratives (we were on second floor of motel despite reservation...so glad we traveled light!). Then we started painting, after eating steak bomb sandwiches. By midnight we began a set of new pieces for our cell 40. The left side Kelly started, based on current themes of animal and plant reproduction, manatee propulsion system, moons and planets . Hers is of science. My start is on right side (she seated both boards next to each other), and my side is the occult view of same narration from the non-science view. Sunday morning 0840 hours Jammed till 0300hours this morn. We worked with visions of particles in air and water, religious symbols, animal and plant reproduction. We will do a full abstract four footer at cell 41. |
